We’ve all heard the sayings, “mind over matter” and “be careful what you wish for”, in fact so often that we don’t really stop to think about what they really mean nor believe what the concepts truly are. I recently watched the documentary titled “The Secret” on Netflix. The main message of this is that everyone has the ability to create their own reality. Our thoughts become things. Read that again because it’s powerful. Our thoughts become things. The thoughts, or energy, that you put out into the universe will come back to you. It’s what is referred to as law of attraction. This is what will bring positivity into your life, or similarly if your thoughts are negative, you will attract negativity.

By thinking positive thoughts and using visualization, one is able to control a physical condition, problem, etc. simply by using their mind. Our minds are capable of accomplishing infinite limitations brought on by the environment. Whether these limitations are physical or mental, they stop us from reaching our full potential. This is why it’s absolutely critical that we feed our minds positive thoughts and picture optimistic outcomes.

If you visualize yourself completing a task successfully (whether it be a race, a test, or even a health related issue), your chances of completing that task successfully drastically improve. It gets you in the correct mindset and raises confidence levels. Crazy right?! How is that even possible?! The brain and nervous system weave into all the tissues of the body and affect them in important ways. This connection, this two way street, means that the mind itself can affect the body in many powerful ways.

It’s no surprise a lot of athletes use visualization to help performance. It’s like programming your central nervous system. When you imagine yourself going through the motions of a sports related situation, mental imagery strengthens neural pathways. Specifically, the brain’s nerve connections associated with the movements you’re imaging. As you visualize, your muscles fire in the same sequence they would as when you’re physically going through the exercise. Believe it or not your mind doesn’t know that you’re not actually doing the movement! So insane, but scientifically based.

People have always told me that I’m a very positive person and ask me what I do to achieve this. Honestly for me I believe it comes down to gratitude. When you focus on being thankful for what you have, you radiate happiness. This energy continues to build in momentum and grow. You are ATTRACTING more and more goodness. Even with set backs and disappointments, with gratitude in your heart you are able to find positivity in all situations. Sometimes you may have to search a little harder, but trust me, it’s there. 🙂  Gratitude + positivity = happiness!!!

While positive affirmations are great, a belief in the outcome is what’s absolutely necessary. It really is a conscious effort to think and tell yourself positive messages all the time. I’m getting so much better at this. 🙂 If you’re constantly telling yourself you can’t do something, guess what, chances are you’re not going to be able to do it! Hence the saying, “be careful what you wish for”! The more you can feed your mind these positive thoughts and mental imagery, the more it becomes a reality. Just as the saying “mind over matter” holds true proving that our minds play a huge role in what we’re actually capable of when push comes to shove. We see this time and time again when you hear of someone achieving success or wellness in situations where physically this was unlikely.

So maybe the answer is simple. Make a list of all the things you’re grateful for, including things you’re good at doing, positive attributes about yourself and what makes you unique. Look at this daily as a reminder. Then write down a goal (or goals) you have for yourself and start visualizing the outcome. Not just, I want to win the race, but specific details. Take yourself through the course in your head, see yourself successfully running it, in the PRESENT TENSE. What does your body feel like? What music are you listening to? How does it feel crossing the finish line? The more in depth, the better. Visualization is a skill that must be cultivated and the actual manifestations will take time to come about. Patience and true belief are the key ingredients. Having gratitude and positivity along the way I believe is what completes the recipe for success! #feedyourmindpositivity #lawofattraction
